Crossbats is proud to support the consortium for street children

Crossbats is proud to have supported street children around the world for many years. Local charity “StreetInvest” was founded by one of our grumpiest players, Duncan “the Banker” Ross in 2008. In 2022, StreetInvest merged into the sector leading umbrella charity the Consortium for Street Children (CSC) which comprises 200 organisations from over 140 countries.

For millions of children around the world, the ‘street’ is the formative part of their lives as home, workplace, or playground. These children routinely experience abuse, are cast out from their communities, and are denied the right to education, basic care … and a voice. CSC and all its members are fighting to reduce the abuse and discrimination that street-connected children suffer and are helping them to develop and fulfil their potential.

CSC’s work included acting as facilitator for the Street Child World Cup of Cricket here in England last year.  For children who have never had any identification let alone recognition, the idea of receiving a passport, visa and two weeks travel culminating in a game of cricket on the hallowed turf of Lords is what we call realising true potential.
